As one of New York Times Best Selling fantasy young adult novels gears up for its big-screen debut, Beautiful Creatures actress Tiffany Boone who plays Savannah Snow in the movie, took time to chat with The Venture’s Monica Grimaldo on how she stays focused, her goals, and her current obsessions.

Monica Grimaldo: You star in a new supernatural movie called Beautiful Creatures as Savannah Snow. When did you know acting was what you wanted to do?

Tiffany Boone: I have always loved everything artistic. There was a middle school program at Baltimore School for the Arts, which is the high school I went to. I auditioned to be in the program for dance and theatre, and I had to choose. The moment I got in, I fell in love with theatre. I never turned back after that.

MG: You got a chance to share the set with some amazing actors on Beautiful Creatures like Academy Award nominee Viola Davis and Jeremy Irons. What did you take with you after working with them?

TB: How important it is to stay humble. A lot of people think that just because you’re a celebrity, it’s okay to treat people poorly. No matter what I go on and do in my career, I will take the kindness that they shared with all of the cast and crew with me.

MG: I read that you eventually want to pursue a degree in art therapy and share your love for public service. That’s interesting! Tell us more.

TB: Acting and performing have really helped me to heal certain wounds. I always knew I wanted to give that experience to another child and be able to have them heal the wounds of whatever they’re going through. I would love to do that one day.

MG: Okay, so let’s say you miraculously have a Friday night off. What is Tiffany Boone doing?

TB: I can be a little boring. *laughs* I’m either at my house or at a friend’s house. We love to eat! A dream Friday night would be going to a Ramen place in Little Tokyo, hanging out and maybe watching some TV and just kicking back and relaxing.

MG: Awesome! So tell us, what are your current obsessions? Music? Make-up? Books?

TB: I’m currently obsessed with Frank Ocean. He’s such an inspiration, and I just think he’s an amazing artist. I’m obsessed with Sephora. Like everything Sephora. And I’ve been reading a lot of Toni Morrison.

MG: Frank Ocean and make-up? I think we’re going to get along just fine. So what’s your advice to all the college kids who are just now stepping into their careers?

TB: Enjoy this time in your life. I know that the big question mark over what’s next is scary, but it’s kind of the best part of your life. Stay focused on your goals, and have fun at the same time.
