University of Houston students react to new campus carry law

In June, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 11, the “campus carry” measure, into law. Senate Bill 11 allows licensed gun holders to carry a concealed handgun on college campuses including classrooms, dormitories and other public buildings starting Aug. 1, 2016.
Students from the University of Houston are speaking out, and sharing their opinions on the controversial new measure that has captivated everyone’s attention. Now just a few months away from its initiation, there are mixed feelings across many college campuses in Texas. Students are concerned that this new law will only perpetuate more violent acts, while others appear to be content with the new measure, ushering in the beginning of a safer era.
