You can’t avoid an embarrassing moment. They’re inevitable. When it happens, it happens. We’ve all been caught in a moment that’s so embarrassing you wish you could just disappear. As bad as the situation may have been, we’ve all overcome it and we’ve been able to move on (I hope).

So don’t beat yourself up the next time you embarrass yourself in front of strangers, friends, co-workers or your peers. Everything will be okay – for the most part.

Here’s a list of embarrassing stories that people decided to share with us.

1. “I was student and I was teaching at an elementary school. I bent down and the kids could see my underwear. So the teacher had to tell me to please pull up my pants.”

2. On the first day of freshman year in high school, a girl was talking about her sex life and she asked me if I was having sex. I said yes, so she asked me if I needed condoms and I told her, “No I’m fine. I have a bunch in my locker.” A little after, she caught me and asked me if I was a virgin and I was to embarrassed to make up another lie so I told her that I was a virgin.

3. When I was 16, I worked at Wieners. I had an intercom and I answered the phone too. One Saturday, we were so busy and the phone was ringing, so I went to the intercom and said, “Wieners, may I help you.” The entire store turned around and just laughed.

4. I stutter or use the wrong words when I have to speak Spanish, so at work I was taking someone’s order in Spanish and when I asked them if they wanted a large Coke, I accidentally asked them if they wanted “a large caca” (poop in Spanish).

5. During one of my music recitals in college, I was on stage and I knocked the microphone stand down into the orchestra pit and it hit one of the musicians. Everyone was in shock, but the musician got up. She picked up the microphone stand and handed it back to me and said she was okay, but that was pretty embarrassing.

6. I was at school and I had to use the restroom (number two), but the stall I chose didn’t have toilet paper. When someone came in, I asked if they could pass me some from the other stall and it turned out I had gone in the girl’s restroom. By the time I came out, a group of girls were using the sink and they all just stared at me. I was super embarrassed.

7. It was a Saturday morning, and I wanted a glass of water. I peeked through the door to make sure no one was home because I was only wearing boxers. So I walked to the kitchen, and when I came out I could see a teenage girl sitting in my living room staring at me in shock. I started to panic, so I said sorry and ran back to my room. Later, I found out she was one of my mom’s church volunteers.

8. My junior year of high school, I went to go study with a girl at Starbucks. When she went to the restroom, I was like, “Why is there a breeze through my shorts?” Then I looked down, and saw a big hole right in the middle of my shorts. When she came back, I didn’t know what to do, so I just told her and she laughed at me.

9. When I was in first grade, I was playing freeze tag with my first crush and he fell and somehow I fell on top of him. I was so nervous that I peed on top of him and he smelled something and said, “What’s that smell?” I lied and said, “I don’t know.” Then he found out it was me and I got called to the nurse’s office. My babysitter had to bring me new underwear, and I had to wear a skirt from the lost and found the rest of the day

10. When I went camping, I didn’t have the proper shoes to cross a river, so I fell on the ground with my face on the rocks. Unfortunately, one of my front teeth fell off and some were broken. Many people that I knew were there, so I just smiled to show everyone I was still fine.

11. In ninth grade, I was getting out of class and I saw the girl I liked. We were close friends, so I decided to ask her out. I walked up to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek and I said, “Do you want to be my girlfriend?”, but she didn’t say anything. Later that day, I found out she was a lesbian and all of my friends and her friends knew I asked her out.
