Landon Donovan coming out of retirement; Inactive since 2014

It feels like we watched Landon Donovan play his last game yesterday, doesn’t it? Many of us saw him play and win his last match in the MLS Cup game with the LA Galaxy two years ago, ending a career full of achievements. Donovan claimed that he was retiring due to not feeling the “passion” that he once felt for the game.
Perhaps that passion is back.
Donovan, 34, is coming out of retirement to join the Galaxy. The news, that started out as a rumor were later confirmed by Kevin Baxter of the LA Times in a tweet this afternoon.
Yes @landondonovan is returning to the #LAGalaxy announcement could come as early as today. And Nigel de Jong’s move was central to the deal

As of now it appears that he will be returning for the remainder of the 2016 MLS season, but who knows?
Maybe he’ll decide to stay and take another shot in making the USMNT. That would not be bad for the The Stars and Stripes.
Donovan is the all-time leading goal scorer in MLS with 144 goals. He is also the top goal scorer for the USMNT with 57 goals.
